North Markham Future Urban Area
Malone Given Parsons has been engaged with the North Markham Landowners’ Group since coordinating its formation in 2007 and more recently with the Angus Glen Landowners’ Group (NMLG).
With a team of sub-consultants, Malone Given Parsons has led the incorporation of 900 hectares NMLG land into Markham’s urban boundary, mediated settlements of appeals of the York Region Official Plan and contributed to reviews and appeals of the new Markham Official Plan.
The firm is currently engaged in bringing NMLG and another new landowners’ group lands through a highly collaborative study and planning process with the City of Markham. The process has generated a Sub-watershed Study and Community Master Plan, supported by Transportation, Water and Wastewater Master Plans all proceeding in a manner designed to fulfill Municipal Class EA requirements. Approvals will integrate parallel Master Environmental Servicing Plan and Community Energy Plan efforts, as well as more detailed site-level planning into Secondary Plans able to support follow-on submissions for Draft Plan approvals.
Malone Given Parsons is also acting as group manager for 3 of the 5 blocks within this area. Ongoing responsibilities as a group manager will include project management: administration of the cost-sharing agreement(s), liaison and coordination effort with Regional, Municipal and other approval agencies to secure the delivery of infrastructure works, review and approval of group expenditures, coordination and manage group finance with trustee and group accountant, and conduct discussions and negotiations with approval authorities.
