Ontario Base Map topographical maps provide an excellent cartographic base from which to build custom maps and undertake mapping analysis for planning and development. MGP uses the Ministry of Natural Resources' most current data available through Land Information Ontario to produce customized OBM-like products.
The Ontario Base Map (OBM) series is a medium scale mapping format designed to cover the Province at scales of 1:20,000 in Northern Ontario and 1:10,000 in Southern Ontario. The data set provides a high level of detail and accuracy and the contents of the OBM include the geographical references of the topographic, cultural and cadastral features of Ontario. These features include hydrography, hypsography, vegetation, transportation, buildings, infrastructure and numerous others, for a more detailed list of coverages and themes see below.
